- HTC

AMRITSAR : The Punjab Police’s counter intelligence wing has arrested four persons with alleged links to Khalistani operatives Paramjit Singh Pammah and Multani Singh in the last three days from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Pamma is currently believed to be in the United Kingdom while Multani is in Germany. The two are accused of carrying out anti-national activities in Punjab. Officials said one of the arrested accused, Jagroop Singh, was arrested from a Tarn Taran village and five pistols were seized at his instance. Sarabjeet Singh, alias Kirat of Ludhiana was arrested from Nanded district in Maharashtra on Sunday night in a joint operation with the local police, they said. Similarly, Gurpinder Singh of Muktsar district in Punjab was also arrested from Nanded on Tuesday.

Jagdev Singh, alias Jagga, was arrested from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh with the help of the local police. Paramjit and Multani were allegedly grooming Jagdev and Jagroop to execute anti-national activities, the police claimed.

The accused will be produced in court, an official said.

On December 19, 2020, a case under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) was registered in Amritsar against Sarabjeet Singh and three others, it is learnt.

JALANDHAR : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and leader of opposition Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday alleged that the “all sorts of mafia” that operated in Punjab during the Shiromani Akali Dal-bharatiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) regime are now thriving under the patronage of the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government.

Addressing a gathering while campaigning for the AAP candidates in Nurmahal for the upcoming municipal council elections, Cheema said, “In 2017, people brought Captain Amarinder Singh to power to stop all this but he himself groomed such elements. Now, all illegal activities are taking place on his watch. It is a golden opportunity for the people to teach a lesson to the Congress and the Akalis who always worked only to rob them.”
