BAHADURGARH: Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Friday said protesters in Delhi will not return home till the Centre reaches an “agreement” and talked about plans by farmer leaders to hold meetings in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state Gujarat.

Making an indirect attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ called by Dalal-84 Khap in Bahadurgarh, the BKU leadersaid the time has come to send the BJP away.

Farmer leaders Gurnam Charuni, Darshan Pal Singh, Yudhvir Singh and other speakers were also present. Tikait said, “People in the Modi government are attempting to store food leading to increase in hunger. They are traders of hunger and want to make a business out of it,” the BKU spokesman further said.

Tikait has received evoked response in all four ‘mahapanchayats’ in Haryana and he has announced to hold similar meetings in Rohtak’s Sampla, two meetings in Hisar, Sirsa and Karnal’s Indri this month.

Going firm on the demand to repeal the agricultural laws, Tikait warned the Modi government that there will be ‘no ghar wapsi’ till the farmers’ demands are fulfilled and said that they are ready for a long haul.

“We will not go back home until the barricades and iron spikes placed on Delhi borders are removed and our demands are met. The government has asked their people to build storage houses before bringing these three laws. If these laws are implemented, corporate houses will control the market and will ensure heavy barricading outside storage house,” he added.

The BKU leader alleged that people of the country, except Gujarat, have got independence but Gujarat is yet to be freed.

“Police have stepped up security outside the houses of those who want to join our stir. People are not allowed to come in trains to join our stir. We will visit Gujarat and ensure that people get freedom. Farmers of Karnataka and other parts of the country will start march towards Delhi, if needed. The government has been banning our vehicles after a span of 10 years but the police are using the same vehicles for over 20 years and without having any insurance cover. We will go back only if the farm laws are repealed and after formulation of a committee to discuss hundreds of other issues related to farming,” Tikait said.

On the Republic Day violence, the BKU leader further said the government has hatched a conspiracy and sent youth in early morning to hoist a religious flag at the Red Fort to create a division among the society.
