State’s Covid case tally breaches 1-lakh mark

DHARAMSHAL­A : Himachal Pradesh’s Covid-19 case count crossed the 1- lakh mark on Saturday after 2,751 people tested positive for the virus.

While the state’s total tally has reached 1,02,038, the death toll mounted to 1,512 after 28 more patients succumbed to the contagion.

Of the new cases, 669 were reported in Kangra, followed by 527 in Sirmaur, 334 in Solan, 282 in Hamirpur, 280 in Shimla, 157 in Mandi, 146 in Bilaspur, 101 in Una, 83 in Chamba, 82 in Kullu, 63 in Lahaul-spiti and 27 in Kinnaur.

Maximum eighteen fatalities were reported in Kangra alone, followed by six in Solan and one each in Chamb, Kinnaur, Shimla and Una.

Meanwhile, active cases in the state shot up to 19,928 while recoveries reached 80,534 after 1,220 people recuperate­d.

No oxygen crunch in HP, says CM Thakur

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday said that there is

no shortage of medicines and oxygen at Covid care facilities across the state. Thakur was reviewing the Covid situation in the state. He directed the logistic committee to monitor the availabili­ty of oxygen at all facilities, besides ensuring timely placement of orders for oxygen cylinder. He said that the committee must also take timely decisions on the interstate and inter-district movement of oxygen cylinders, depending on requiremen­t and patient load.

Thakur said that efforts must be made to augment oxygen production in the state, besides expediting work on new oxygen plants. He added that the government is ensuring uninterrup­ted power supply at all oxygen plants in the state.

The CM asked the corporate social responsibi­lity coordinati­on/contributi­on committee to motivate corporate houses in the state to generously contribute towards the HP SDMA Covid-19 Fund.
