AIIMS IMPROVES HEALTH OF PURVANCHAL

After the formation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government in the state, the way for the transfer of AIIMS land was cleared. With the deployment of doctors, treatment in OPD has also started. Not only Gorakhpur, people from eastern Uttar Pradesh, the border state of Bihar and neighborin­g country of Nepal are getting treatment here. On an average around 1,500 patients are benefiting from OPD services in AIIMS. Day-care surgery has also started. The operation of emergency OPD will start soon. By December 2021, the facility of major surgery will also be available to the patients. Not only this, admission of MBBS students has started from this session on 100 seats instead of 50. It is expected that by 2022, AIIMS will have 750 beds.

COVA - VAX TRIALS

American company Nova Wax Inc. has started trial of its vaccine Cova- Vax at AIIMS Gorakhpur.

This trial will be done in different phases. The first dose will be given to 10 volunteers. The second dose will be after 21 days. Their health will be monitored by the AIIMS administra­tion for six months. Trial is to be done on 100 people.

AIIMS and RMRC are jointly doing this trial. Trial of this vaccine has already been done in England. This vaccine was found to be 89.7 percent effective. People who will be vaccinated, will be checked 5 times for antibodies.

For cova vaccine trials, 23 institutes have been selected. Of these, the vaccine is being trialed on volunteers between the ages of 18 and 65 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Gorakhpur (AIIMS).
