MAKE PROBE REPORT ON DRUG TRAFFICKING PUBLIC: AAP

CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday demanded from the ruling Congress government to make public the investigation report prepared by the special task force (STF) on drug trafficking.

In a statement, leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Harpal Singh Cheema, while challenging Congress’ newly appointed state president Navjot Singh Sidhu, said due to collusion between the drug kingpins and the government, the STF’S sealed report was gathering dust in the high court since February 1, 2018, and no official authority made any effort at the administrative and legal levels to get the report unsealed.

On the contrary, the entire emphasis of the Punjab advocate general’s office was that it be kept at bay, so that the 2022 assembly elections can pass, he alleged.

Cheema said as long as Punjab advocate general Atul Nanda will remain in the A-G’S office, neither the STF report would be made public nor the Punjab government be able to win any prestigious case.

“That is why we demand from newly appointed Punjab Congress president Sidhu to make the STF report public in two weeks, as it cannot be expected from chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh,” he said.

He asked Sidhu to convene an immediate meeting of all MLAS and ministers, including the chief minister, and ask the government to dismiss A-G Atul Nanda and make the STF report public.

“Not only we (AAP), but the people of Punjab have also started counting down the days to bring all such issues to a conclusion,” he added.
