EVENT: MEN’S JAVELIN THROW QUALIFICAT­ION India’s best medal hope in track and field begins his quest at the Tokyo Games with the qualificat­ion round. The qualifying mark for an automatic berth in the final is 83.50m, which Chopra—with a personal best of 88.07m—should touch. Shivpal Singh, India's other javelin thrower in Tokyo, will also be in action.

The 2019 World Championsh­ips silver medallist will kickstart his Tokyo show against Nigeria's Ekerekeme Agiomor, who is the African championsh­ip bronze medallist. Should the second seeded Indian get past him, he will be up against either the Chinese Zushen Lin or Peru's

BOXING Lovlina Borgohain

EVENT: WOMEN'S 64-69KG SEMIFINAL

Having already assured herself, and the country, of a bronze medal, the boxer from Assam will be looking to go all out to change the colour of the medal. But she faces a difficult challenge in the form of Turkey’s Busenaz Surmeneli, the 2019 world champion in the category, for a place in the final.
