ROHTAK : She got the better of the mathematics demon that lived in the minds of the students by making learning a fun experience. Mamta Paliwal, 36, a mathematics lecturer at the Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Bhiwani, uses the play-way method to teach her students. She is the only teacher from Haryana who will be honoured by the President of India on the teachers’ day this year.

Hailing from Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district, Mamta has been teaching at the Bhiwani school since 2016. She was recruited as a Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in 2011 and her first posting was at Government Girls’ School in Bhiwani’s Devrala. She got promoted as a postgraduate teacher in 2016.

“I am grateful that my students are satisfied with my teaching style. I have made videos of my lectures which were telecasted on TV channels. The education department also shared my handwritten notes and videos among students during the Covid-19 lockdown. It

was satisfying for me that students enjoyed the way I took the online and offline classes. I teach them using innovative methods to elicit their interest in the subject,” she added.

School principal Kiran Gill said the school has over 3,000 students and Mamta had played a vital role in increasing the enrolment. “She has proved that government school education can be as good as in private institutions. She used to take classes even after school hours. Entire school is delighted that her efforts have been recognised,” Gill said.
