Anurag kickstarts Jan Ashirwad Yatra
SHIMLA/CHANDIGARH : Union minister Anurag Thakur started the five-day ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Himachal Bhawan, Sector 28, Chandigarh on Thursday, amid the chants of “Jai Shree Ram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jay”.
The minister for information and broadcasting, and youth affairs and sports said the aim of the yatra was to make people aware of the welfare of policies of the government, while learning the problems they had to contend with.
The yatra will cover a distance of 623 km through all the four Lok Sabha constituencies of Himachal. In an emotionally-charged speech, the minister flayed the Opposition party for stalling the parliament during the monsoon session and also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his elevation to the Union cabinet. “I am honoured by the blessings and love showered by my party workers. I express my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister for elevating me as cabinet minister at a young age,” he said, adding that the purpose of the five-day Yatra was to ensure that the Prime Minister’s policies reach the people and the Opposition’s “negativity” is exposed, while garnering the blessings of the people.
Thakur speaking to the BJP workers at the start of the yatra, said, “The Opposition can stop council of ministers’ introduction in Parliament but they cannot stop people from loving us.”
Underscoring that the new council of ministers had the highest-ever members from backward classes, he said, “It comprises 27 members from OBCS (35%), 12 scheduled caste members (15%), eight STS (10%) and 11 women have been given ministerial posts.
