DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Police will file an application in the court for a narco test of the accused in the receptionist Ankita Bhandari murder case so that the truth about the VIP who stayed at the resort can be known, officials said.

The investigation in the case is almost complete and the chargesheet will be filed before the court in the next 10 days, V Murugesan, ADGP, law and order, at a press conference here on Sunday. “Regarding the truth about the presidential suite at the resort, where people who stayed were called VIP, we will conduct the narco test of the accused. We will file the application in the court soon in this regard”, he said

Narco test involves the injection of a drug, sodium pentothal, which induces a hypnotic or sedated state in which the subject’s imagination is neutralised, and they are expected to divulge true information.

Murugesan said police has collected enough evidence in the case. He said the charges have been filed against the accused under IPC sections 302, 201, 354 and 120B and sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. He said the investigation into the matter has been conducted in a fair manner without any favour.

“We appeal to people to maintain composure and have trust in the investigation of the SIT (special investigation team). Uttarakhand police is conducting the investigation in this case in a transparent manner. I also want to appeal that rumours should be spread about this case and people should not believe rumours

Congress and many people have been lashing out at the government for not revealing the name of the VIP whose name had cropped in the case. Congress MLAS even raised the matter in the state assembly’s twoday winter session which concluded on November 30.

The 19-year-old woman, who was working as a receptionist at the Vanantara Resort in the Pauri district, was allegedly murdered by the three accused for refusing to provide “extra service” to the VIP guests, the police said. A Whatsapp conversation between the victim and her close friend, which went viral on social media, hinted at the accused being forced to provide “extra service” to the VIP guest expected to come to the resort on September 19.
