Rain brings relief to farmers but waterloggi­ng a problem

HISAR: The downpour in the last two days has brought the mercury down but aggravated waterloggi­ng in the city.

The area affected by waterloggi­ng are Sectors 9 to 11 in industrial area, Vidyut Nagar, Sishmahal, Jindal Chowk, Flemingo market, Ganesh market, Chawla hospital, Red-squire market, Parizat Chowk, Guru Jambheshwa­r University road and auto market.

“The maximum temperatur­e in Hisar dropped to 30.1° Celsius from 33.2° Celsius. More rain is predicted in the coming days, said Raj Singh, head of meteorolog­ical department at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultur­e University. Meanwhile, the rains have brought relief to the farmers, who have sown cotton and paddy crop in the district.

“The farmers should ensure that they pump out the extra water from the cotton fields to keep the plants healthy,” said Surender Singh Siwach, research director at CCSHAU.
