Explain reasons behind transfers: High court to Virbhadra govt
SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh high court on Wednesday asked the government to explain the reasons behind transfer of the Una deputy commissioner Yunus and Baddi additional superintendent of police (ASP) Gaurav Singh.
The division bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and justice Sandeep Sharma also directed the government to file a status report regarding steps initiated to curb mining mafia across the state.
The bench also seeked explanation regarding action taken against those officers of the district administration who allowed the mining mafia to construct the road which was later on dismantled in Palampur, district Kangra.
“It is not understandable where the district administration was sleeping when the mining mafia was constructing the road, which now stands dismantled,” the court observed.
The government was also directed to produce records relating to the transfers of the Una DC and Baddi ASP.
The bench also took notice of the media report which stated that the Palampur SDM had received complaints from Sulaha residents that illegal mining was going on unchecked in Neugal river near Paror at Palampur.
