NANGAL: The Bhakra Beas Management

Board has reinforced security at the Bhakra dam following surgical strikes by the Indian Army across the LoC. “We have alerted the security set up at the Bhakra dam,” said BBMB chairman SK Sharma, adding that they have not been contacted by the army for providing security at the dam. The authoritie­s have resorted to blackout at the Bhakra and Nangal dams. Lights were switched off in the evening. The BBMB has stopped issuing red permits to visitors.

Tarn Taran, 137 in Amritsar, 290 in Gurdaspur and 65 in Pathankot (987 villages in six districts). Schools and colleges have been earmarked as evacuee camps, chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal said.
