POLICE SAY IT COULD BE A PLOY TO MISLEAD PROBE IN THE CASE

JALANDHAR: Mystery around an email purportedly written by defunct terrorist organisation Dashmesh Regiment to mediapersons, claiming responsibility of killing RSS leader Brig (retd) RS Gagneja, has deepened with no intelligence inputs available with the state or central agencies about the existence of this group.

Though the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started investigations in the case after procuring the email, officials see it as an attempt to mislead the probe.

“There is no information available with the state and the central agencies about the existence of any such group (Dashmesh Regiment). It seems to be a mischievous attempt by certain people as the agencies are closer to cracking the case,” said a senior police official.

The agencies have no such inputs about any existent sleeper cells of Dashmesh Regiment.

The email, sent from the ID regimentdashmesh@gmail, carries the name of Rajinder Singh Jinda as its sender.

The email claims that Gagneja opened RSS shakhas and schools to intensify “anti-Sikh” activities at the behest of the central government and agencies.

The email warns against sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib while taking a dig at Akal Takht Jathedar Gurbachan Singh.

Jalandhar police commissioner Arpit Shukla refused to comment on it saying the CBI was investigating the case. “We are providing whatever information the CBI is seeking from us,” he said.
