185 IT-related projects in Haryana to give push to e-governance

CHANDIGARH: About 185 informatio­n technology (IT) projects are being implemente­d or under process in Haryana to give a big push to e-governance in the state.Bulk of these projects are being implemente­d by the Haryana government and another 10% are being executed by the Centre, according to informatio­n shared in the meeting of Chief Minister Digital Haryana Cell here on Tuesday. While 20% of these IT projects have budget provision of more than ₹1 crore, 70% are being implemente­d through government agencies.

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who presided over the meeting held to review the progress of these projects, said that citizen-centric services are set to hit a new, faster and hasslefree delivery mechanism under the Digital Haryana Roadmap 2017-19 prepared by the state government.

“The working of offices will also undergo a metamorpho­sis with all department­s where IT projects are being implemente­d having better connectivi­ty and coordinati­on for proper monitoring of projects and policies to curb corruption,” he said.

The CM said that service delivery to citizens would include immunisati­on updates through voice bursts, online calls with doctors, direct scholarshi­p debit to bank accounts, real-time attendance updates to parents through short messaging service (SMS), informatio­n on local voter registrati­on via SMS, new service updates through Atal Seva Kendras, auto authentica­tion for marriage registrati­on and online registrati­on of new apartments.

Khattar has decided to review selected IT initiative­s every two months. It was also informed in the meeting that five patents, 10 research papers and a book on the achievemen­ts of ‘Digital Haryana’ would be published to establish Haryana as a leading digital state.

Those present at the meeting included chief secretary DS Dhesi; additional principal secretary to chief minister Dr Rakesh Gupta; director general, electronic­s and informatio­n technology, Vijayendra Kumar and IT adviser Dhruv Majumdar.
