RIL MARKET CAP CROSSES ₹4 L CR

MUMBAI: India’s biggest private company by revenue, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), crossed the ₹4 lakh crore in market capitalisa­tion on Monday. The company had previously achieved this milestone on January 18, 2008. RIL is the second company after Tata Consultanc­y Services Ltd (TCS) to cross ₹4 lakh crore in market cap. Currently, TCS has a total market cap of ₹4.88 lakh crore.The stock hit a high of ₹1,256.50 a share, gaining 6.1% intra-day on the Bombay Stock Exchange. It closed 4.74% higher at ₹1,238.60. Investors have gained over ₹52,000 crore since February 21, the day when Reliance Jio announced that it will end free data services and start charging its customers from April 1. Since then, various brokerage firms have upgraded the stock on the hopes that Jio may start generating revenue.
