WOMAN AND HER PARAMOUR HIRED TWO MEN FROM UP TO KILL HER HUSBAND IN MAY LAST YEAR, ALL 4 ACCUSED HELD

YAMUNANAGAR::Almost 11 months after the killing of Yamunanagar-based industrialist Yogesh Batra, a special investigation team (SIT) of the Karnal police has solved the case and arrested his wife, her paramour and two others for the murder.

According to the police, Yogesh’s wife Prinyanka Batra had illicit relationship with her gym trainer Rohit. As Yogesh objected to their affair, Priyanka and Rohit wanted to get him eliminated. They contacted Uttar Pradesh-based Satish and Sonu to kill Yogesh by injecting intoxicants into his body and throw him in canal. But the duo could not inject intoxicants into Yogesh’s body as the needle got broken and they strangulated him, the police said.

Yogesh, owner of Batra plywood factory, had died on May 27 last year, at his residence in Sector 17 of HUDA in Yamuanagar, where he used to live with his wife Priyanka. Priyanka told his father Subhash Batra that Yogesh died due to heart attack and cremated the body without postmortem.

But Yogesh’s father Subhash Batra suspected it to be a murder and filed a police complaint with the Yamunanagar police. But the police failed to investigate the case and he approached the Haryana DGP, following which the case was transferred to the Karnal police and a special investigation team (SIT) was formed under CIA-II in-charge Balbeer Singh.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Balbeer Singh said the case was transferred to the Karnal police as the family members of the deceased were not satisfied with the investigation in Yamunanagar.

Investigation officer (IO) Rampal said accused Priyanka, mother of two children, had illicit relationship with Rohit and they wanted to get married after the death of Yogesh who had left properties of several crores behind. After the industrialist’s death, she had become director of Batra plywood factory and also took control of all his properties. Priyanka and the other accused were arrested on March 23 and produced in a local court, which remanded them into police custody for further interrogation.
