IAS officer Cheema sent back to his parent cadre

CHANDIGARH:The Punjab government on Thursday issued orders for the repatriati­on of 1993batch IAS officer KJS Cheema to his parent cadre (West Bengal). Cheema, who served as special principal secretary to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal since 2007, was on an “unauthoris­ed stay” here for several years.

He was relieved with immediate effect on the orders of the chief minister, sources said. Cheema was considered close to Badals. With Amarinder taking over, he was posted as principal secretary, freedom fighters.

Sources said the Centre had also objected to his stay in Punjab, terming it in violation of IAS (Cadre) Rules, 1954.
