Haryana to conduct fresh survey of BPL families from June: CM

CHANDIGARH/ROHTAK: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said that a fresh survey of BPL families would be conducted in the state from June to August to include genuine beneficiaries and weed out fake ones.
Besides, the government plans to make available a special machine at each sub-division for measuring land to deal with the issue of land disputes.
He was listening to people’s complaints at his Janta Durbar in Jind on Saturday, where about 350 complaints related to pensions, HUDA, electricity, housing scheme, roads, encroachments, unauthorised possessions, kidnappings and murder were received.
Acting on a complaint related to illegal construction, Khattar summoned district town planner (DTP) Ram Kumar and on learning that he was not present on the occasion, suspended him.
The public welcomed the announcement with loud claps.
On a complaint of a person that his neighbour had grabbed his plot illegally and the police were not taking the matter seriously, Khattar directed the SP to register an FIR in the context. In another complaint regarding a fraud, a woman, alleging authorities’ inaction, fainted in front of the CM, to which he asked the deputy commissioner to solve the issue.
On a complaint regarding frequent electricity cuts in the defence colony, Khattar asked the executive engineer to provide 24-hour power despite 25% line loss and take action against those who indulged in power theft.
On the request made by a physically handicapped person, who said that he faces problems in commuting for higher education, the chief minister asked the officials to provide him a tri-motorcycle within one month.
Talking to the media, Khattar said a survey will also be done to shut illegal meat shops in the state.
He said he will be spending two days in all districts of the state to hear people’s complaints. CHANDIGARH: The Indian National Overseas Congress (INOC) USA members have hailed the appointment of Sunil Jakhar as the Punjab Congress chief.
