PATIALA Slamming the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government for not fulfilling its poll promises, former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal asked farmers to stop depositing their loan instalments in banks.

Speaking on the sidelines of commemoration ceremony of Jaswant Kaur Dhaliwal, mother of former cabinet minister Surjit Singh Rakhra, on Sunday, Badal said Amarinder had promised to waive farmers’ loans, but nothing has been done even after about two months of the Congress government in power.

“The farmers should protest against government and remind the chief minister and his government of the promises made during elections,” Badal said.

The former CM said the Congress government had also backtracked from its promise of generating employment, a job in every household, giving smart phones to youth and eradicating drugs from the state. “Amarinder is trying to run government in his tyrannical style and the first two months of his government have been a flop show. The government is taking decision in arbitrary manner and has stopped grants and developments works initiated by the previous SAD-BJP government,” Badal said.

Badal said the state government is showing fudged figures of the state finances. “It is just an excuse to run away from their promises,” he said.
