Haryana to launch special drive to fill 34,000 Group-D posts soon
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has decided to launch a special recruitment drive to fill 34,000 vacant posts in Group-D category in the state, agriculture minister Om Parkash Dhankar said on Tuesday.
Speaking to mediapersons here, the minister also said a special cleanliness campaign will be launched in 125 ‘mahagrams’ (mega villages) having a population of more than 10,000 each to mark the ‘World Environment Day’ on June 5. The rural development department has prepared a special plan under which cooperation of social and nongovernment organisations would also be sought.
In reply to a question, Dhankar said there was no discontentment among members of the state cabinet.
He said that during the meeting of ministers that chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar presided over, discussions were held to further empower block samitis and zila parishads. The sub-committee constituted under his chairmanship will soon start work on a fresh BPL survey which will be done, by taking the population of 2011 as the base year.
Dhankar said the meeting hailed the bumper yield and record purchase of wheat this year. Compensation for the crop loss due to fire will soon be disbursed to the farmers, he added.
The minister appealed to the farmers of the state not to burn wheat stubble as it not only adversely affected the environment but also diminished soil fertility.
