Jats stage 1-day dharna in Hisar, say rally on June 4 in Rohtak

HISAR: The All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) staged one-day dharna on Tuesday near Ramayan railway crossing here. The group’s national president, Yashpal Malik, also addressed the protesters. Heavy police force was deployed by district Hisar police to maintain law and order situation. Talking with mediaperso­ns, Malik said, “We are holding oneday dharnas in every district of Haryana and taking feedback of the Haryana government.”

“We have formed a new committee in every district of Haryana and are holding meetings with the district presidents. We have also changed the district president of AIJASS of Hisar and Himmat Singh Mayyar will now lead the protest from Hisar. Earlier, Krishan Kirmara was the head,” he added.

Malik said that during their last protest in 2016, the Haryana government had assured Jats that proper compensati­on and government jobs to the family members of the victims, who were killed in police firing.

He added, “We have decided to hold a large scale rally in Rohtak on June 4 and protesters from Haryana will join the rally. After the rally, we will decide our future course of action.”

Meanwhile, AIJASS state spokespers­on Rambhagat Malik said, “We have come to know that the central government is trying to fulfil its promise, but the state government is moving very slow on its promises.”
