ROHTAK: A Sonepat court on Wednesday convicted three law students of the OP Jindal Global University in Sonepat in the highprofile gang-rape case of a 20-year-old management student several times on the campus.

Fed-up of being blackmailed and forced into sexual course by three men, the 20-year-old had in April 2015 lodged a complaint at Rai Police Station in Sonepat. The victim, a student of five-year integrated MBA course at the university, had told police that law student Hardik Sikri had befriended her in 2013 and had allegedly forced her into sexual intercourse.

The victim stated that Sikri was in possession of her nude photographs, and had been raping her from past two years threatening to leak them in public.

She complained that Sikri also forced the victim to maintain sexual relations with two of his roommates—identified as Vikas Garg and Karan Chhabra.

The three were booked and arrested under sections of gangrape and criminal conspiracy. Holding them guilty, the court of additional sessions judge Sunita Grover kept May 26 as the next date to pronounce quantum of punishment to the three.

OP Jindal Global University, which has industrialist Naveen Jindal as its serving chancellor, had expelled Sikri there and then on the victim’s complaint and had suspended four others, including Garg and Chhabra, in 2015.
