HUSBAND FOUND HER IN THE BEDROOM IN A POOL OF BLOOD AND A SMILEY DRAWN WITH BLOOD NEXT TO HER BODY WITH THE WORDS; ‘TIRED OF HER. CATCH ME AND HANG ME’

MUMBAI: The wife of a police officer was stabbed to death on Tuesday night. The police said the couple’s 21-year-old son, who is missing, could be the killer.

The police said the woman, Dipali Ganore, 42, who was alone at their Prabhat Colony home in Santacruz (East), was stabbed nine times.

Her husband, Dnyaneshwar Ganore, 50, found her around 1am on Wednesday when he returned home from work. He found her on the bedroom floor in a pool of blood and a smiley drawn with blood next to her body with the words; “Tired of her. Catch me and hang me”. The knife used to commit the murder was kept beside the body, the police said.

The police suspect the message was written by their son, Siddhanth, a student at Bandra’s National College. The police also suspect Siddhant committed the crime as a substantial amount of cash is missing from the house. Siddhant left his mobile phone behind, too.

According to the police, Siddhanth was repeatedly admonished by his mother over his grades and she had refused to give him pocket money. He may have stabbed her in the neck in a fit of rage, said a source. “She was stabbed five times in her abdomen and four times on her neck,” said a senior police officer investigating the case.

Siddhanth, the police said, had dropped out of an engineering course and was studying at National College.

Dnyaneshwar , who is posted at the Khar police station, was on day duty on Tuesday.

Ganore reached home around 11pm from work, and found the door was locked, the police said.

He rang the doorbell and knocked several times, but did not get a response from inside the house, said a police officer.

The police said when Dipali and their son were not responding to phone calls, Dnyaneshwar thought the duo may have gone to the market. He decided to wait for a while, said the police.

“Around 1am, Dnyaneshwar found his house key in the dustbin outside his residence. He went inside and found his wife in a pool of blood in the bedroom,” said Wavale. “The Vakola police were informed about the incident and a police team was immediately rushed to the spot.”
