Man kills girlfriend, commits suicide

- HT Correspondent

ROHTAK: A 25-year-old married man allegedly murdered his girlfriend and then committed suicide at a hotel in Narnaul town of Mahendragarh district.

Police said Johnny Tanwar, a father of three children, had an illicit relationship with an MA first year student. However, their relationship was turning sour because Tanwar was married and had three kids.

On Saturday, he called the girl to a hotel on the pretext of throwing a birthday party. Police said the couple booked a private room at the hotel and ordered food in their room. However, a little while later, Johnny stabbed her with a knife in the stomach and neck, killing her on the spot.

The hotel staff rushed to the room after they heard the girl’s loud cries but couldn’t do much as the room was locked from inside. In the meanwhile, Johnny, too, committed suicide by consuming sulphas tablets. The hotel staff informed the police, who reached the spot and broke open the door to find the couple dead.

Police said they found a suicide note from Johnny’s pocket in which he has written that he was committing suicide and killing the girl because she was threatening to file a false rape case against him even when they were in a consensual relationship.

Ateli police station incharge Ram Chander said they have registered a case and further investigation was going on.
