Jalandhar lad tops district with AIR 261, to opt for computer engg
JALANDHAR: After bagging All India Rank 17 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) mains , 18-year-old Prabhpreet Singh Sodhi has become the district topper in JEE advanced, the results for which were declared on Sunday.
Scoring an all India rank 261 and 291 marks, the Apeejay School student aims to opt for computer science engineering in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur.
“My family is delighted with the result. I am grateful that my efforts have shown good result,” said Sodhi.
“I used to study for five to six hours daily and revise all the chapters,” he said.
Prabhpreet’s father JS Sodhi is a social compliance auditor and his mother Vimaljeet Kaur is a government school teacher. The second district topper Prachi Goel with All India 339 rank aspires to do electrical engineering from IIT Bombay. “I had to drop for one year.It took me three years to prepare for the exams,” said Goel who studied for Class11and 12 in Kota.
Prachi said that she followed a regular routine for studying at the coaching centre.
“Due to health problems, she had to drop for a year. She had lost all confidence but she worked harder and has secured more than our expectations ,” said her father Rajesh Goel who is a businessman.
“Its all her effort.She deserves all the credit for her success. We only provided her with resources,” said a proud mother, Pallavika Goel who is a government teacher. Rijul Tandon of Central Town area with 2,085 rank is a student of Cambridge International.

BAGS AIR 834
AMRITSAR: The results of Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) advanced were declared on Sunday. Krishnam Kapoor from Senior Study II school is the city topper with All India Rank (AIR) as 834 (268/366).
“I am thankful to my teachers and principal, who have put in a lot of effort to make my base strong” says the city topper .
Krishnam who has an inclination for machines wants to be a mechanical engineer as he wants to create new machines. DAV International School’s Dhruv Sehgal is second with AIR is 1318 (256/366) and Gauri Gupta from DAV Public School with AIR 1354 (255/366) is third.
Krishnam’s mother Ridhi Kapoor is a teacher.
“My grandfather Harbans Lal Kapoor who is a mechanical engineer inspired me to crack the exam,” said Krishnam. Krishnam scored 94.2 % in Class-12 non-medical stream and secured 1,010 AIR in JEE mains.
Dhruv Sehgal is second in the city with AIR 1,318. His mother Monika Sehgal is a maths teacher at DAV International School. Dhruv had bagged 2,109 AIR in JEE mains and 92.2 % in Class-12 non-medical. He aims to pursue electronic engineering from IIT Roorkee or IIT Kharagpur.
I am thankful to all my teachers who have put in a lot of effort to strengthen by base,” said Dhruv.
