Haryana boys bag AIR 5, 6

Suraj Yadav scores 339 out of 366 marks whereas Saurav Yadav secures 330

KOTA :This year, though the JEE Advanced 2017 topper didn’t come from Kota, the coaching hub managed to have a sizeable presence in the merit list.

Suraj Yadav, from Vibrant Academy, got the fifth All India Rank (AIR) and proved his mettle. Suraj’s was the best performanc­e from Kota.

Panchkula boy Sarvesh Mehtani is the national topper with AIR 1 with 339 marks out of 366.

“I was confident of being in the top 10. Support from my parents and teachers helped me succeed,” said Suraj, who scored 330 out of 366 marks in JEE Advanced 2017.

The 16-year-old, whose father is a contract teacher and mother a housewife, came to Kota two years ago.

“I studied around 10-12 hours a day. I stayed away from all kinds of distractio­ns including smartphone­s, movies and sports. Instead, I would talk to parents and it helped me,” said Suraj, who is from Haryana.

Suraj, who now wants to pursue computer science at IITMumbai, said that he used to solve physics Olympiad question papers of last 18 years to ensure success in JEE Advanced.

“I am happy that my son has achieved AIR Rank 5,” said Suraj’s father, Rajkumar, who along with his wife stayed with their son in Kota for his coaching.

Suraj’s elder sister Vaishal Yadav (19) is also pursuing B.Tech from Delhi Technical University and according to Suraj, Vaishali is an inspiratio­n to him.

Another Haryana boy Saurav Yadav emerged a winner after securing AIR 6 in JEE Advanced 2017.

He has been preparing for IITJEE in Kota from last three years and had scored 95.2% in class 12.

Saurav, who scored 330 out of total 366, is the son of CRPF personnel Pradeep Kumar and his mother, Asha Yadav, is a homemaker.

He revealed that he used to solve questions while listening to music would dedicate around two hours to outdoor games.

“I sleep at least 8 to 9 hours and spends remaining time studying,” said Saurav, who took coaching at Resonance Eduventure­s Private Limited.

Now, Saurav wants to study computer science at in IIT-Mumbai.

According to a statement from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, a total of 1,59,540 candidates appeared in the JEE (Advanced) 2017 held on May 21. Of those, 50,455 made it to the rank-list across all categories.
