Abhay Chautala writes to Khattar on ‘wasteful expenditure
Its outrageous that the centenary celebrations of a person admired by a political party should be funded from the exchequer of Haryana
CHANDIGARH: Leader of the principal opposition party in Haryana, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Abhay Chautala, on Monday wrote to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar against what he alleged was a wasteful expenditure on the celebration of birth centenary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayay during the golden jubilee year of Haryana.
Abhay, who is the leader of opposition in the state Vidhan Sabha, said that he was disappointed that the state government, under the cover of celebrating the golden jubilee year of creation of Haryana, had chose to announce the celebration of the birth centenary of late Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay, as part of the wider celebrations.
He further alleged that Upadhayay was not known to have made any contribution for the upliftment of people of Haryana or in the creation and making of the state.
Abhay, who is an MLA from Ellenabad, alleged that to him, the said celebrations seemed to be an internal affair of the RSS and BJP.
“I, as the leader of the opposition, feel offended and outraged by the fact that the centenary celebrations of a person admired by a political party should be funded from the exchequer of Haryana.
As a political party, BJP has the right to celebrate the life and times of its leaders, but using public funds simply because it happens to be in government, is gross misuse of power ,” he held.
