Avinash Rai says BJP will retain Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat

-

GURDASPUR Ex-MP and BJP national vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna, addressing a press conference in Gurdaspur on Friday claimed that the party will retain the Gurdaspur seat in the coming parlimentary by-election, which was vacated by the death of sitting BJP MP Vinod Khanna.

He asserted that the people of Gurdaspur still loved their fourtime MP Vinod Khanna for his ‘great service’ to the area, adding that people’s sympathy for Khanna and his family would add to the prospects of BJP’s victory in the coming bypoll.

About their candidate for the bypoll, Avinash said the party would declare the same shortly after the election announcement.

He also remarked that the people of the Punjab had committed a mistake by electing Congress to power in the Vidhan Sabha elections, saying that the Congress made false promises to the people which were impossible to be fulfilled.

He also lashed out at the Capt Amarinder Singh government for the alleged misbehaviour with the opposition legislators in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Thursday. JALANDHAR :Delegates of the gazetted and non-gazetted SC/BC Employees Welfare Federation protested against the state government on Friday for failing to fulfil their long pending demands.

They carried out a protest march from Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall to district administration complex.

Union members said the state government failed to rollback personnel department’s order of October 10, 2014 that does not consider reservation under roster point as a seniority point; implementation of the 85th constitutional amendment and increase of pay scales.
