‘Beggar remark’: Farmers protest against Manpreet

BATHINDA: Farmers under the banner of BKU (Ekta-Sidhupur) staged a protest against state finance minister Manpreet Badal for his alleged remarks comparing families of farmers, who allegedly committed suicide, with beggars.The protesters burnt effigies of the minister in Sandoha, Maur, Yatri, Chathewala, Jiwan Singh Wala, Phul, Mehma Sarja, Burj Manshaihia, Jeeda, Kothe Sandhwan and Khokhar villages. Leader of union Resham Singh said the outfit will step up agitation if Manpreet doesn’t apologise to farmers for his comments. Manprteet, however, has denied making any such remark.
