Raids on several units, adulterate­d items seized

THE CM FLYING SQUAD RAIDED SEVERAL FACTORIES IN HARYANA AND ARRESTED FIVE PEOPLE IN KARNAL BESIDES IMPOUNDING ADULTERATE­D EDIBLE PRODUCTS

HISAR/SONEPAT/KARNAL/ GURUGRAM:Haryana chief minister’s (CM) flying squad on Tuesday raided several factories across Haryana and arrested five people along with impounding adulterate­d items and illegal borewells. The team also took sample of milk products, ketchup and examined records of wine shops.

In Sonepat, the squad conducted raids in Rai, Gohana and Kharkhoda, where they impounded large number of liquor bottles and collected samples of cooking oil and desi ghee being made at unauthoris­ed factories.

DSP Ajit Singh of the CM flying squad said they impounded around 12,000 boxes of alcohol being stored illegally from Kharkhoda town during the raid. In Gohana, sales tax officials raided an unregister­ed factory that was making mustard oil and collected around 69 tons of oil, which have a market value of ₹4 crore.

Singh said they have also recovered a palm oil tanker with 22,000 ton capacity that was being transporte­d illegally.

The flying squad also raided two factories in Rai town, where 300 quintal desi ghee that was being produced at three unauthoris­ed factory was collected and machines were sealed.

In Murthal, the flying squad sealed a liquor store that was violating the Supreme Court's directions by operating within the radius of 500 metres from national highway.

5 ARRESTED IN KARNAL Meanwhile, the flying squad unearthed an illegal chemical factory and arrested five people in Karnal.

Police sources say the accused were running an illegal factory of black oil and recovered two containers of 60 MT from the factory. During police interrogat­ion the accused told that they had brought the oil from Mathura and were planning to supply it to Dausa in Punjab.

Investigat­ion officer Balbeer Singh said the accused were running a racket of illegal black oil and had a complete set up to supply the oil by mixing chemicals in it. He said the accused are in police custody and will be produced in the court. BOREWELLS SEIZED IN GURUGRAM

The chief minister flying squad along with the hydrology department, Guruhram, conducted searches on Tuesday at several areas of the city and sealed more than half a dozen illegal borewells with a view to crackdown on illegal extraction of groundwate­r in the city.

The team, comprising 12 members of the crime investigat­ion department (CID) and four hydrology officials, searched areas in Nathupur, Daulatabad, Amar Colony, Shivaji Nagar, Pataudi and Sheetla Colony.

The team launched the drive around 7am on Tuesday and it continued till 5pm.

They said that monitoring of the sealed borewells in the city had been done at regular intervals.

The team said after July 15, the drive will continue more aggressive­ly in Gurugram.

“We have received several complaints regarding illegal use of water in the city and we are taking action against people involved in the practice,” Ravinder Yadav, a CID officer who was part of the team, said. SAMPLES COLLECTED IN HISAR, SIRSA, FATHEHABAD

The teams reached the office of the deputy commission­er in Hisar, Sirsa and Fatehabad districts on Tuesday morning and contacted the food and supply department to conduct raids.

The team raided various shops, factories and a gas agency in Ratia, Fatehabad city and Tohana. It collected samples from a milk powder factory road and has sent them for further investigat­ion.

The squad also checked records of two wine shops near local bus stand in Hisar and later visited a ketchup factory on the Hisar-Sirsa road to collect samples.

Sources said the samples were taken reportedly after complaints that the factory was not following proper guidelines.

In Ratia town of Fatehabad district the CM”s flying squad took sample from a spice factory and also raided a gas agency and sealed 49 LPG cylinders.

The cylinders were sealed because the agency had hoarded them.

Acting on a tip-off, the flying squad also raided a chemist shop in Sirsa.

Sources privy to the developmen­t said the team was informed that the shop was functionin­g without a licence.
