Amritsar cop ends life with service revolver

AMRITSAR: In a tragic incident here, head constable named Gurnam Singh committed suicide inside police station Bhindi Saidan with his own service weapon.

As the incident set panic, senior police officials led by SSP Amritsar (rural) Parampal Singh reached the spot to examine into the situation.

Confirming the incident, SSP Parampal Singh said, “During the investigat­ion, a suicide not was found from the wallet of the victim.” “It seems that head constable Gurnam Singh was stressed due to some property issue and had tiff with his brother Jaswant Singh and four others named Rana, Kewal, Bikka and Bhatta,” the SSP said.

“All these names are written on the suicide not and we are going to register a case under Section 306 of the IPC.”

Meanwhile, the police officials also informed that some poisonous substance was also found from body of the deceased cop.

The deceased cop was a resident of the Rajasansi are while he was posted at the Bhindi Saidan police station. AMRITSAR: The process to adjust Khalsa University students concluded at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) on Friday. The university received total 150 applicatio­ns.

Dean academic affairs professor Subodh Kumar supervised the counsellin­g.

Registrar professor KS Kahlon said, “The allotment will be done till Tuesday.”

“The students will be allotted campuses according to their courses . The government will be informed in case any course is not available.”
