FARIDABAD: With police still clueless over the identity of the main accused in the Junaid Khan murder case, mother of the victim has said if the killer of her son is not arrested in two days, she will not hesitate in going on a hunger strike.

“Saira, my wife, made this statement on Tuesday that she would stop eating if the main accused in the case is not arrested,” Jalal-u-din, father of Junaid, told HT.

The victim was on board an EMU train from Ghaziabad to Mathura on June 22 when he was stabbed to death. Junaid, a resident of Khandwali village near Ballabgarh, and four others were attacked by a group of people who called them “beef eaters” and “anti-national”.

However, Jalal-u-din said they are satisfied with what police are doing to trace the main accused. “My sons had gone to Gurugram on Tuesday on the advice of the police for giving more description about the accused.”

COPS TRYING TO MAKE ACCUSED’S SKETCH Meanwhile, sources said the investigating agencies probing the case have still not able to make a proper sketch of the main accused.

“Our cyber experts had drawn a sketch of the accused on the basis of what the associates of Junaid Khan had briefed them. But when we showed them the sketch, they were not satisfied,” one of the investigating officers said.

The sources revealed that experts tried to make the sketch of the accused more than once but they could not succeed so far.

Meanwhile, the government railway police (GRP) on Wednesday again called some residents of Khandawli village for questioning. They were among those who had rushed to the railway station from the village on June 22 when the incident took place.

“This is part of the investigation and the process will continue till we trace the main accused”, SP GRP Kamaldeep Goyal said.

The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) had on Tuesday stepped in and directed the administration to bring the “real culprits” to justice at the earliest.

NCM member Sunil Singhi visited the aggrieved family at Khandawli village in Ballabgarh on Tuesday.

A mahapanchayat was held on Sunday in Palwal district which condemned the killing of Junaid and demanded that the investigating agencies arrest the real culprit and release the innocent youths arrested by them.

Police had announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh on Monday for information leading to the identification of the main accused who stabbed Junaid to death.
