RESTORE NORMALCY WITH CHINA

-

After the Doklam stand-off, the Chinese live-fire drills signal that the country’s leaders need to put on their thinking cap. This is like déjà vu when Pakistan showed off similar army drills in the recent past to intimidate us. Yet, diplomatic negotiations are need of the hour and of utmost importance. We cannot afford to damage relations with another neighbour. The government needs to step and take a stand to settle the matter that has been allowed to linger on, for some unfathomable reason. The country must take pre-emptive steps to unlock the hold-up and restore things back to normalcy.

Ajay Pal Singh, via email from here. Why should special status be given to those who have never condemned the Pakistansponsored terrorism in the state. We have lost count on how many ceasefire violations have taken place, resulting in killing of our jawans. The government cannot afford to prolong the issue involving safety and security of teeming millions of innocent lives in the Valley. It needs to take an urgent call on the issue and clear the air on what it has admitted was a ‘very sensitive’ matter. Ramesh K Dhiman,

Chandigarh grow to enable them to lead a prosperous future. Depositors’ money has been used to enrich borrowers and banks. Why cannot there be special deposit rates for senior citizens, considering most depend on banks to make their money grow. The majority of the population has not understood the concept of risk and reward in financial investment. This has led them to either to go for bank deposits as a safe bet or to go in for equity investment without understanding the depth of risk in such instruments.
