Fatherson duo die after motorcycle hit a minibus on JalandharHoshiarpur road
JALANDHAR, MOGA, NABHA: Seven people were killed in separate road accidents in the state.
Three persons, including a father-son duo, were killed after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a Tempo Traveller on the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur national highway near Kathar village in Adampur on Monday. The motorcycle caught fire.
Jagnal Chaudhary, 33, his son Sahil, 4, and Govind, 35, were returning after paying obeisance at the Chintpurni shrine in Una district of Himachal Pradesh when the accident took place. They had gone to Chintpurni shrine on Sunday evening.
Adampur SHO Gopal Singh said the tempo driver fled from the spot. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
“We have called the tempo owner. A case under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 279 (rash driving) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the IPC has been registered,” said the SHO.
COUSINS CRUSHED UNDER TRUCK
In another accident, two cousins were crushed under the tyres of a truck at Singhawala village, 5km from Moga, on Monday.
The incident took place when Balkar Singh, 17, of Chottia Tayba village, and Karanpreet Singh, 16, of Dhaleke village, were on the way to Chottia Tayba village from Moga on a bike.
Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle skidded. A speeding truck coming from behind crushed them to death.
Constable Jasvir Singh said both died on the spot and the truck driver managed to flee, leaving the vehicle behind.
2 KILLED AS BIKE
RAMS INTO TRACTOR
Two persons were killed when the motorcycle they were riding rammed into a stationary tractor-trailer on the state highway12A near Lubana village in Nabha. Harjit Singh, 30, died on the spot, while his cousin Avtar singh, 28, succumbed to injuries at a Nabha hospital.
Another man, a resident of Dhuri, was injured . They were returning from the Naina Devi shrine in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday night and could not see the stationary tractor-trailer, said police.
