My son got bail due to the state BJP government. It does not have any say in court’s decision, but it ensured that justice is done.

NOIDA: Vishal Rana, 21, and Hari Om, 26 — two accused in the Bisada lynching case — got bail on Monday from Allahabad High Court . The duo was lodged in Luksar Jail of Greater Noida for the last 22 months.

Eighteen people were taken into custody following the incident in which 55-year-old Ikhlaq was lynched by a mob on after claims that he allegedly slaughtered a cow and stored its meat for consumption.

Of the 18 people, 14 got bail; three are in judicial custody and one, Ravin, 22, died in police custody in October 2016. He died of suspected dengue though his family had alleged torture in jail.

After Ravin’s death, Bisada was again on the boil as residents and right wing groups had held protests in the area and burnt effigies of then chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. Some Bharatiya Janata Party leaders had camped at Ravin’s house and his family was given financial assistance.

Vishal’s father Sanjay Rana, a local Bharatiya Janata Party leader, said, “My son got justice and it is all because the state has BJP government. The government has not any say in court’s decision, but it ensured that justice is done. In the previous regime, officials were not ensuring fair investigation.”

Sanjay Rana said he moved application for the bail of his son and Hari Om two weeks ago, following which Allahabad High Court granted bail to both the accused. “It will take us two days to get them released from the jail because of legal formalities,” said 47-year-old Rana.

He said, “The whole village residents, including Muslims are happy over the bail of my son. I do not have any grouse against my Muslim brothers. It was a mob that attacked the family and I have suffered for it,” Rana said.

Ram Sharan Nagar, thecounsel for Vishal Rana said, court of Justice SK Gupta granted bail to his client on Monday. The judge took cognizance of the fact that it was a mob attack and the accused had been in jail for 22 months.
