Controvers­ial J&K lawyer Behal’s video goes viral

JAMMU: An undated video, purportedl­y showing advocate Devinder Singh Behal inciting a strong gathering of Hurriyat Conference in Kashmir with ‘proAzadi’ slogans has gone viral on social sites in J&K.

Seen with a mike in his hand and inciting passions of a big gathering of Hurriyat Conference in the name of “freedomstr­uggle” somewhere in Kashmir, advocate Devinder Singh Behal can be heard clearly in the 2.44 minute clip saying “the people of Kashmir were not seeking any undue favour from the Indian government”.

After raising slogans like “Zor Se Bolo-Azadi”, “Hum Mil Ke Lenge-Azadi”, “Yeh Haq Humara-Azadi” and “Aai Aai Azadi”, advocate Behal in his address could be heard saying, “As you know, 40 days have passed in which over 75 people have martyred and 8,000 injured, of which 400 have lost their eyesight.”

“We urge HR organisati­ons of the world, Amnesty Internatio­nal and civil society to stop violence and use of pellet guns. We are human beings and have a right to live. We are not seeking any undue favour from India. We are reminding India the promise made by its leadership including Jawahar Lal Nehru,” he says in the video.

GEELANI’S YOUNGER

SON SUMMONED BY NIA SRINAGAR: Meanwhile, the NIA on Monday issued summons to Syed Ali Geelani’s younger son Naseem Geelani in connection with investigat­ions into the funding of

subversive activities in Kashmir.

Geelani’s elder son Naeem, was to appear before the NIA on Monday, but was admitted in ICU here on Sunday, after complainin­g of severe chest pain.He has been resummoned.
