- HT Correspondent

NEWDELHI: Dr Amanda Hess, an obstetrician-gynecologist, had slipped into her patient gown to give birth to her second child when she got news of an emergency situation in the labour room. Hess paused her delivery and decided to help.

Hess, who lives in Frankfort city in Kentucky, is now a social media sensation for being a “true professional and selfless person”.

The other woman in the delivery room, Lea Halliday Johnson, was in “active labour” and needed urgent attention but her assigned doctor was not around, said Dr Hala Sabry, a colleague of Hess colleague, in a Facebook post.

Without giving a second thought, Hess went immediately to care for the woman.

“So, in her own words, she [Hess] “put another gown on to cover my backside, put some splash boots on over my flip flops” and delivered that baby! She literally worked until the last second!! ,” Dr Sabry wrote.

“It was a little bit of a surprise...As soon as I saw that, I immediately kind of turned off patient mode and immediately went into doctor mode,” Hess told InsideEdition.com.

After finishing her duty, Hess finally delivered her own baby whom she named Ellen Joyce. With tens of thousands of reactions to Dr Sabry’s Facebook post, the internet is hailing ‘Dr Mom’ for her amazing work.

“She was definitely in doctor mode,” Halliday Johnson told NBC.

Halliday Johnson gave birth to a baby girl, according to NBC.
