Cong MLA says 700 girls trafficked in 2 dists, demands probe
SAYS THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF MISSING GIRLS HAVING BEEN SOLD IN MUMBAI AND KOLKATA; WILL TAKE UP ISSUE IN ASSEMBLY
FARIDABAD: Congress legislator from Palwal and former minister Karan Singh Dalal said over 700 girls from Faridabad and Palwal districts were trafficked during the last three years of BJP government in Haryana.
“I demand a high-level probe into the disappearance of 770 girls from the twin districts of Faridabad and Palwal,” the Congress legislator said at a press conference on Friday.
“Whereas the majority of the victims are from Faridabad, some are from Palwal also,” he said citing media reports.
“The rate of unemployment has gone up and it is possible that some unemployed people took to the trade of human trafficking for their survival,” he said demanding the government should release a white paper on these mysterious disappearances of girls. “I am going to raise this issue in the assembly as a number of parents are worried about kidnapping of their daughters and police are doing nothing to address their concerns”, he said.
The state government has launched ‘Operation Muskan’ under which the lost children are united with their parents.
“The government claims to have united hundreds of such missing children with their parents. Has the government asked the police where have they found them?” the Congress leader asked, pointing fingers at the police for being hand in glove with the human traffickers.
“The possibility of the missing girls having been sold in Mumbai and Kolkata cannot be ruled out,” the former Haryana minister claimed.
