DCP IN POWER THEFT ROW: LOKAYUKTA SEEKS REPLY FROM DGP

-

ROHTAK: Haryana Lokayukta has asked the director general of police (DGP) to explain within 15 days the “temporary sources” used to generate electricity by Gurgaon DCP (East) office during the two year period when its power connection was disconnected due to non-payment of bill.

The Lokayukta has further demanded the names of the policemen who paid from their own pockets the expenses incurred in arranging these temporary sources.

The case pertains to the complaint filed by Gurgaon based activist Harinder Dhingra, who had alleged that DCP (East) office indulged in power theft between April 2012 and August 2014 (28 months), when Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam had disconnected its connection owing to ₹ 3.9 lakh pending arrears. During last hearing, the DCP (East) office had denied the charge, maintaining it had used temporary battery-based sources to generate electricity for the said tenure.

The Lokayukta has now asked to explain these unrevealed sources, used to recharge the batteries, as the office used 11.5 KW load for running several electrical appliances. The reply needs to be given through Haryana DGP in 15 days. The next date for hearing is October 9.HTC HISAR: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday announced that the state’s first training centre for women cops will soon come up in Hisar.
