TWO HELD FOR BREAKING CAR GLASSES AFTER BIRTHDAY BINGE

ALWAR Two of the four friends, who damaged window glasses of more than 60 cars in Alwar after getting drunk in a birthday party, were arrested, police said on Thursday.

Narendra Yadav, a student of RR College, invited his friends— Shakti Yadav, Rishikesh Yadav and Ajit Yadav — to celebrate his birthday in Arya Nagar on the August 4 night.

They drank till 1am. Narendra and Shakti then went to the railway station area to get food. After a hotel owner refused to give them food, they had a brawl with him. While returning home, they broke glasses of a few cars parked in Arya Nagar, said additional superinten­dent of police (city) Paras Jain.

“After reaching home, Narendra, Ajit and Rishikesh went on Shakti’s motorcycle with an iron rod and a lathi and started breaking window glasses of vehicles in Scheme Number 8, Panchvati, Sanjay Colony, Alkapuri and Bank Colony,” he said.

Glasses of more than 60 vehicles were broken, he said. SRINAGAR: The Enforcemen­t Directorat­e on Thursday conducted searches at multiple locations here in connection with an alleged terror funding and hawala case involving over ₹ 20 crore funds.

Officials privy to the operations of the Enforcemen­t Directorat­e (ED) said the agency is conducting searches against one Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad and at least three premises connected to him.

They said Sheikh’s house in Ahmad Nagar and a firm identified as Alkhuddam Tours and Travels in Srinagar town have been searched. The central agency has roped in the state police for conducting the searches, they added.

The ED suspects the case to be of terror funding through hawala dealing and other illegal transactio­ns, they said.
