Pak violates truce in Poonch’s KG sector again

JAMMU :Pakistan again resorted to ceasefire violation along the line of control (LoC) at Mankote area in Krishna Gati sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on Sunday, targeting forward defence locations and civilian locations, drawing retaliatio­n from the Indian army.

Defence spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta said, “Pakistan army initiated indiscrimi­nate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 6 am along the LoC in KG sector.”

Intermitte­nt firing was till the filing of this report.

Also, there were no reports of any casualties or damage on the Indian side.

On Saturday, Pakiatan army pounded shells along the LoC in Krishna Gati and Mehdhar sectors of Poonch district in which an army jawan and woman were martyred. In the evening, Naib subedar Jagram Singh Tomar was injured and sepoy Mohit Kumar were injured after firing by Pak in Mankote area of Krishna Gati sector.

However, Tomar later succumbed to injuries and Mohit is undergoing treatment in the military hospital.

Earlier on Saturday, Raqia Bi, 40, was killed after she was hit by splinters of one of the mortar shells which fell in her premises at Gohlad in Mendhar sector.

Meanwhile, Army paid last tributes to Naib Subedar Jagram Singh Tomar on Sunday.
