LAX COPS TO BLAME FOR RAPES

-

The Chandigarh police are facing criticism for not taking adequate steps to curb incidents of rape and stalking. CCTV cameras installed at the traffic interjections and in neighbourhood are of poor quality. Besides, CCTVs in places like Traffic Park are non-functional. The recent rape incident in the Sector 23 park occurred right under the nose of the city police. The police must devote their time to prevent such horrific crimes instead of harassing motorists.

As the country is heading rapidly towards globalization and westernization, the frequency of such crimes is rising. Over the last two years, 7,87,000 women fell victims to rape or sexual assault. India, Bhutan and other neighbouring countries need to unite in challenging China’s aggressive and expansionist posturing. Engaging patiently with China, and talks not war, will be the right solution to the present stand-off.
