Gurgaon, Barara, Radaur MC elections on Sept 24
CHANDIGARH Elections for the Gurgaon Municipal Corporation (GMC) and municipal committees of Barara (Ambala) and Radaur (Yamunanagar) besides bypoll for wards of Pehowa (Kurukshetra), Pataudi (Gurgaon) and Dharuhera (Rewari) civic bodies will be held on September 24, the Haryana State Election Commission announced on Wednesday.
The polling will be held on between 7am and 5pm, while the counting of votes will start after voting at polling stations the same day. “The election results will be declared the same day,” state election commissioner Dalip Singh said in a press conference in Panchkula.
The state election commissioner said the model code of conduct for these municipal elections will come into force from Wednesday and that no official connected with election work will be transferred till the completion of the poll process.
All candidates are required to maintain account of election expenditure and submit the same within 30 days from the date of declaration of results to the deputy commissioner(s) or the official(s) authorised by the State Election Commission. The defaulting candidate will be disqualified for five years from the date of issue of such order.
Of 15 wards of the Barara municipal committee, two each are reserved for scheduled caste (SC) and backward class (BC) candidates, one for SC woman and four for women candidates. Out of 13 wards of the Radaur municipal committee, two each are reserved for SC and BC candidates, one for SC woman and four for women candidates.
