Indian Oil Day celebrated at Panipat Refinery

Indian Oil Day was celebrated at the Panipat Refinery & Petrochemi­cal Complex (PRPC) with numerous activities. The celebratio­ns kicked off with the inaugurati­on of an exhibition of cloud-based e-health checkup applicatio­n by B.V Rama Gopal, executive director (I/c), at PRPC Hospital, Township. An ATM facility of the HDFC Bank was also inaugurate­d at the New Township.

To mark the day as a ‘carbon neutral’ event, a tree plantation drive was held at both the Panipat Refinery and PNC, initiated by V.K. Raizada, executive director (T) and Praveen Nagpal, CGM (I/c) PNC. Further, a blood donation camp was organised in collaborat­ion with the Red Cross Society, Panipat.

Earlier, Rama Gopal inaugurate­d a cloud-based software package meant for advanced analytics of critical equipment, which works proactivel­y for collecting health informatio­n of the equipment which facilitate­s timely maintenanc­e.

Certain CSR activities were also organised in the village Khora-Kheri, where ED (T) inaugurate­d a drainage system, a solar power panel of 5 KW and two newly-constructe­d classrooms at Kachrauli. Six ceiling fans were handed over to the sarpanch of this village and 360 more handed over to the school authoritie­s of Arya Kanya Gurukul Senior Secondary School, village Mor Majra, for the education of girls for their newly-built hostel.

The day ended with felicitati­ons to ex-Indian Oil officials who have attained the age of 75 years, as well as other prizes given away. The Rayat Bahra Group of Institutio­ns’ Patiala campus organised a tree plantation activity on its premises, keeping in mind the ecological and environmen­tal values of the green cover. A programme to help create awareness about the ESI (Employees’ State Insurance) Scheme was held for the officers of the Labour Department, government of Jammu and Kashmir, by officers of the ESI Corporatio­n. It was attended by Dr. Abdul Rashid, labour commission­er, government of J&K, Sh. M K Arya, regional director, ESIC, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, state medical commission­er, ESIC, Ms. Ankur Mahajan, deputy labour commission­er, government of J&K, and Sh. Parveen Moudgil, deputy director, ESIC, with assistant labour commission­ers, labour inspectors, officers of EPF and labour inspectors from the Jammu division of the Labour Department participat­ing in it.

Sh. Arya briefed the participan­ts about the extension in the activity. Dr. Verma talked about the massive significan­ce of trees for the environmen­t, calling them the ‘lungs of the planet’.

Chairperso­n of the group, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, appreciate­d the drive and said that educationa­l institutio­ns must actively play their part to support such activities. of the ESI Scheme in all the 22 districts of the state, adding that the actual coverage of industrial units and employees had not been as expected. He urged the Labour Department to offer cooperatio­n and support in helping the scheme’s benefits reach its beneficiar­ies. He also requested officers of the Welfare Board of Building and Other Constructi­on Labour Act in the state to share the data of the constructi­on units registered with them with the ESI department so that the ESI Act could be applied to the workers on these units.

Dr. Abdul Rashid assured that his department would be extending all support to the ESI Corporatio­n in achieving the maximum coverage of units and employees. A similar session would be organised in Srinagar, he informed.
