Farmer murdered in Faridkot

FARIDKOT: A 40-year-old farmer was murdered in Bargari village of Faridkot during early hours of Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Naib Singh. The unidentifi­ed miscreants trespassed into his house and inflicted fatal head injuries.

The victim was rushed to the Guru Gobind Singh Medical hospital, Faridkot where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have registered a case of murder (302) of the IPC after a complaint by his younger brother Sukha Singh.

Sukha, who has a house adjacent to his brother’s, said, that he heard screams of his brother at about 4:30 am. “Since Naib was unmarried, he lived alone. After hearing his shouts, I dashed to his house. I found the gate unlocked, and there he was lying on the bed, and profusely bleeding. When I reached him, he was already unconsciou­s,” Sukha narrated.

The victim was immediatel­y rushed to Guru Gobind Singh medical hospital where he died on Saturday.

In his complaint, Sukha has named another farmer as a suspect owing to a property dispute. Police has rounded up a few suspects, including the one named in the complaint.

“We are investigat­ing all the possible angles to the murder and will nab the accused soon,” Station House Officer (SHO) of Bajakhana police station, Sunil Kumar Sharma said.
