Married woman ends life with lover

KARNAL: A man and a woman, believed to be lovers, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a canal near Karan lake here on Saturday but the police are yet to ascertain their death as the bodies were not found.

They have been identified as Munish Kumar and Geeta Rani, both residents of Kachwa village of the district. As per the sources in Karnal police, Geeta is married and also has a child but she had an illicit relationship with Munish.

Geeta’s husband Raj Kumar filed a police complaint on Friday. He alleged that Munish had kidnapped his wife and said that both of them were spotted at Karan Lake on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, family members of Munish alleged that they have committed suicide as Munish had made a call to his mother around 4am on Saturday and told her that he was going to commit suicide at Karan lake.

Though, the police have recovered his mobile phone, slippers and clothes from the lake but have failed to find their bodies even with the help of divers as yet.

YOUTH’S BODY FOUND IN DRAIN, KIN CRY FOUL YAMUNANAGAR: The body of a 22-year-old youth was recovered from a drain on the outskirts of the Jagadhari town of the district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Rajat Kumar, a resident of Ashok Vihar colony of Jagadhari. The police have registered a case against unidentified persons and started investigations.

Sources in the police said victim’s family suspect his friends who had a scuffle with him a few days ago.
