Congress, SAD have secret alliance: AAP

- HT Correspondent

KHADOORSAHIB In the first-ever political conference during the Gurta Gaddi Divas of Guru Angad Dev at Khadoor Sahib by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira and state chief Bhagwant Singh Mann accused Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of a ‘backdoor alliance’. Leading the party rally on Sunday, Khaira said, “SAD and Congress are two sides of a coin. They are looting the state, working hand in glove, but the people of Punjab are aware of their shrewd alliance.”

“There are two big cases against Captain Amrinder Singh, where he allegedly bungled crores. The cases are, however, being withdrawn because of SAD’s intervention,” he alleged.

He added, “Navjot Singh Sidhu, soon after the Congress government took charge in the state, alleged that cable mafia was looting crores by evading tax. The probe has, however, been now put on backburner because of cable mafia’s links with SAD leaders.”

He alleged that at the time of SAD government in Punjab, Congress MLAs demanded action against Bikram Singh Majithia over his alleged links with drug smugglers and even Captain had promised action after coming into power, “but instead of taking action, the CM has been uttering ‘no-vendetta politics’ everywhere”. “This is betraying people to whom they had promised that those who loot the state will be put behind bars,” he added.

Slamming the chief minister, AAP leader said instead of filling posts in various departments, the CM has been making a fool of the youth. Lashing out at SAD, he said, “SAD leaders and workers are not real Akalis, but only pretenders. They can do anything for votes. Real Akalis were always available for welfare of the society.”

The state party chief Bhagwant Mann, meanwhile, jeering at Congress said, “The government is responsible for farmers’ suicides in Punjab. It has not lived up to its promise.”
