SIRSA : Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana appeared before police to join investigation relating to the disappearance of Honeypreet Insan, daughter of rape convict dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, on Monday.

She reached the HUDA police post in the town at about 2.40 pm, where a special investigation team (SIT) formed by Sirsa police headed by Dabwali DSP, Kuldeep Beniwal, questioned her. She came out of the police station around 6.20pm.

SIT in-charge Kuldeep Beniwal told HT that Vipassana had told police that Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s daughter Honeypreet visited Sirsa on August 25,.

“Vipassana said that since then, she had not received any call from Honeypreet and they were not in touch,” Beniwal added. “We have asked her to keep her mobile on so we can call her for further investigation.

“We also asked her if she knew the whereabouts of Aditya Insan, Pawan Insan and other members of dera management who have gone into hiding. She told the investigation team that she is not in contact with them and they are hiding after Panchkula violence,” he added.

She told the police that she had recently visited Gursar Modia in Sri Ganganagar of Rajasthan to hand over some important documents to Jasmeet Singh, son of Ram Rahim. PANCHKULA: A special CBI court on Monday asked former investigating officer Armandeep Singh to appear before it on Tuesday, as it resumed hearing murder cases in which rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is the main accused, along with others.

Closing arguments have been in progress in the case.

Armandeep was initial officer, who investigated the matter and recorded the statements of accused. Ranjit Singh, a member of the dera’s core committee, was murdered in July 2002.

Meanwhile, CBI’S special prosecutor HPS Verma read out statements of 59 witnesses of 60 it produced during the trial. The statement of IO Armandeep has been held back due to its summoning by the court. It is expected to be read on Tuesday.

Gurmeet appeared for the trial through video chat. He complained of back pain.

Vipassana said that Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s adopted daughter Honeypreet visited Sirsa on August 25 and she has not received any call from her since then. KULDEEP BENIWAL, SIT in-charge

DEFENCE APPREHENDS ‘MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE’

An advocate for Krishan Lal, an accused facing trial for the 2002 murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati, has apprehended miscarriage of justice in a letter addressed to the chief justice of India. The letter from the advocate, Bankim Kulshreshtha, states that most core facts and evidences in all three cases — rape case involving two sadhvis, the murder of the journalist and the murder of Ranjit Singh — are common.
