CHANDIGARH: A special investigation team (SIT) headed by superintendent of police (SP), crime and investigation, Ravi Kumar, of Chandigarh police will probe the alleged leak of Haryana Civil Service (judicial) exam.

Chandigarh director general of police (DGP) TS Luthra gave names of SIT members to Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday. Other members include Krishan Kumar, DSP (security and operation) and inspector Poonam Dilawari.

The exam for 109 posts was conducted on July 16. Following a petition in the HC in August, a HC probe panel had found that the paper got leaked. It had also recommended the registration of an FIR against Balwinder Kumar Sharma, registrar (recruitment), whose name had figured in paper leak case and two candidates. The names of SIT members were sought by the HC.

Meanwhile, Haryana submitted a report in court and said that an FIR had been registered for misusing a public document against Panchkula policemen Pradeep Rana, Ram Bhagat, Murari Lal and Balwant.

Additional advocate general, Haryana, Deepak Sabharwal, told full bench comprising justice Rajesh Bindal, justice Rajan Gupta and justice GS Sandhawalia that a complaint in alleged paper leak case was received on July 20 from Manoj, husband of Suman, who is petitioner in the matter before the high court. It was marked to (ASI) Pardeep Rana on July 22 for investigation.

Rana concluded the inquiry and prepared a report holding that the complaint was false. “He even prepared the report of the SHO and got the same signed from him without his knowledge,” Sabharwal said, adding that for this ‘offence’, Rana, Ram Bahgat, Balwant and Murari Lal have been booked.

Ram Bhagat is husband of Sushila, who had topped in one of the categories and is accused of being involved in the leak.
