JALANDHAR: A 26-year-old woman was attacked with sharp-edged weapons in Karol Bagh locality on Thursday morning. The victim, Mamta, has sustained more than five deep cuts on her throat. She was admitted to Johal Hospital after being shifted from the civil hospital.

Mamta was alone at the home when the incident took place. Her husband Pradeep Kumar, 30, had gone with son, Yash, 3, for their pet’s vaccination. The four CCTV cameras installed outside the house had captured the entry of Mamta’s mother-in-law, Usha Rani, and a man, Kashmir Singh Sodhi, at 10.01am, along with the victim. And at 10.12am, Rani was seen coming out and washing her hands at a washbasin near the main door.

Then, she went back into the room and at 10.19am, Sodhi and Usha moved towards the gate and both left the house. At 10.22am, the victim came out and fell down. After spotting the victim, the neighbours took her to the civil hospital.

Rani lives separately from her sons, Pardeep and his elder brother Vinod, who live together with their families. During the incident, Vinod’s family were out to visit some relatives.

Police said that a property case between Rani and her sons is already pending in the court. Senior police officials scanned all four CCTV cameras installed there and forensic experts collected fingerprints’ and blood samples.

Pradeep, Usha and Kashmir Singh have been arrested under Section 307 of the IPC.
